Magnus has once again taken the commercial property agents for a hike up one of Snowdonia's mountains - Moel Shiabod. Agents from King Sturge, WHR, GVA Grimley, Canning O'Neil, Edwards & Co and Savills joined the Magnus team for a day's walking followed by a stay-over in one of Snowdonia's most famous climber's hostel ; The PYG at the base of Snowdon. The walk went without incident, save for Will Lewis' near death experience with a peat bog (see picture). The highlight of the evening was the charity clash of the titans between Steve Widdowson of Magnus and Paul Smith of King Sturge. This Gladiatorial event had all the atmosphere of the Roman Coliseum and tensions ran high as each warrior chose their weapons of choice. Steve chose the 1000 year old bat with deadly staple inset (some say this was crafted by early settlers of Wales out of slate) , while Paul went ‘large' for an oversized weapon with no padding. After 3 hours 10 minutes (well it seemed that long!) of gruesome battling it was Paul who dealt the fatal blow and became victorious, receiving the highest honour and golden trophy. It is rumoured that Steve has subsequently bought an outside table tennis set and is practicing on a daily basis in preparation for the return match next year.
