The Barnaby Festival took place last weekend and even through the bad weather was a huge success bringing life into the town, the festival is a mix of Music ,Dancing, Street Entertainment.  Just walking in the town on Saturday morning made your mood brighten watching people playing the piano with fantastic fun music watching the crowds gathering in amazement.

There has been a Barnaby Fair since the 13th century, when Macclesfield was granted a Borough Charter.  Mill's and school's used to all shut-down for two weeks everyone would join in the celebrations and this was when most families would take their holidays.

In recent years, this great local tradition had all but died out.  In June 2010, Barnaby was reborn and hailed as a huge success. The Festival gained momentum the following year, growing by 50%, and this year even bigger with over 100 events in around 50 venues over four days.

The festival, which is not-for-profit and delivered by an army of 200 volunteers, has made an extraordinary social, cultural and economic impact on Macclesfield bringing new and exciting ventures into the town.
